drills that use a cutting point and helical flutes to make a hole.
TWIST DRILL LENGTHS
---------------------------------------------------TWIST DRILL LENGTHS---------------------------------------------------
The standard drill bit length for most drilling applications.
A shorter drill bit length with flats on the shank to provide more stability for harder drilling process.
The shortest drill bit length for a lower chance of breakage, used mainly in machine driven drilling processes.
TWIST DRILL MATERIAL TYPES
---------------------------------------------TWIST DRILL MATERIAL TYPES---------------------------------------------
Cryogenic treatment creates a more uniform “grain” structure by transforming retained austenite into martensite.
Made with special Hi-Molybdenum tool steel. Body and clearance are gold surface treated for maximum lubricity.
Manufactured from M42 HSS containing 8% cobalt which increases high red hardness.
These drill bits have straight shanks smaller than the diameter
of the bit. Another name is the Reduced-Shank drill bit.
SILVER AND DEMING LENGTHS
---------------------------------------------SILVER AND DEMING LENGTHS-----------------------------------------------
drill bits have straight shanks smaller than the diameter of the bit. Another name is the Reduced-Shank drill bit. Generally, this bit is 6 inches long and consists of a 1/2-inch shank with a 3-flats on shank.
SILVER AND DEMING MATERIAL TYPES
---------------------------------------SILVER AND DEMING MATERIAL TYPES-----------------------------------------
Made with special Hi-Molybdenum tool steel. Body and clearance are gold surface treated for maximum lubricity.
High red hot hardness of cobalt steel permits speeds 30% higher than regular high speed steel drills.
High-speed steel recommended for use in drilling equipment with 1/2" chucks.
tools used in the threading process to create screw threads.
TAP TYPES
------------------------------------------------------------TAP TYPES-----------------------------------------------------------
Taps with 8-10 threads tapered on the point for easy thread starting in tough materials.
Taps with 3-5 threads tapered on the point for general use when tapping into the bottom of the hole is not critical.
(This is the most widely used style.)
Taps with 1-2 threads tapered on the point. Made for use after threads have been started for tapping to the bottom of a hole.
Designed for machine tapping through holes in a wide variety of materials. The point of the tap continuously ejects the chips ahead of the tap, eliminating chip disposal problems and thread damage.
The most common type of tap. Can be used by hand or for tapping under power. Made for use in general machine tapping or CNC tapping applications. Can be used for through hole or blind hole tapping.
Regular Thread tapered pipe taps are used for tapping pipe fittings and couplings in a wide variety of materials.
TAP MATERIALS
--------------------------------------------------------TAP MATERIALS--------------------------------------------------------
Super tough carbon steel, ideal for hand tapping or re-threading
Low temperature stress relief
that enhances lubricity, reduces friction and
increases tap toughness.
A general purpose material recommended for non-ferrous metals, wood, and plastics.
DIE TYPES
------------------------------------------------------------DIE TYPES------------------------------------------------------------
These dies have a recessed adjusting screw so threads can be cut slightly under-size or oversize.
Hex shape allows them to be driven in cramped quarters with a wrench.
DIE MATERIALS
--------------------------------------------------------DIE MATERIALS---------------------------------------------------------
High quality carbon tool steel to meet the highest industry standards.
A type of rotary cutting tool used in metalworking, used to enlarge the size of a previously formed hole.
REAMER TYPES
--------------------------------------------------------REAMER TYPES--------------------------------------------------------
These reamers are especially designed for the reaming of structural steel plates commonly found in truck frames, rail cars, bridges, and pressure vessels.
The fast spiral reamer, is the more aggressive of the two common styles. It also will fit the needs of users who prefer a stop collar.
Designed for aligning and enlarging holes in structural steel applications.
This tool is designed exclusively for enlarging existing holes. The 4-flute design eliminates the catching and hogging-in experienced with standard S & D drills when breaking through thinner materials such as truck frames.
Accurately starts, enlarges and deburrs holes in materials up to 1/2" thick. The 90° notch point starts holes easily. Each reamer has five hole-enlargement steps.
